Adding Contrast with Duplicate Layers
This is a quick simple technique to give those slightly flat images a bit of pop with some added contrast. Open your image up in Photoshop and lets give it a go…
Quick tip image:
Step 1:
Once you have your image open in Photoshop make a duplicate of the background layer using ctrl + J and de-saturate it using the keyboard shortcut ctrl + shift + U. Set the layers blend mode to soft light and that’s it instantly added contrast.

For a harsher effect you could experiment with using the hard light blending mode with adjustments to the layer opacity.
