Here's a screenshot of your demo page if I adjust the 'left column' to have a height of 'auto'. The contained sidebar scrolls past the bottom.

I am using Chrome 16 on OSX by the way.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for this. It's <em>almost</em> perfect! I think the reason you've had a couple of comments about the constraint option is that unless a specific height value is set for the container the constraint option does not work.

For example, my container's height is auto and is defined by the height of the content div which shares the same container as my sticky side bar. Unless I set a specific height on the container the constraint option does not work.

Thanks, I appreciate you sharing this!

Mate you're the man.
Read your other post
http://www.profilepicture.co.uk/tutorials/ajax-file-upload-xmlhttprequest-level-2/
and after while trying to suss how could I send along form data I end up in reading documentation at Mozilla's Developer network website and found FormData.
I got so excited that I went back to comment just to see you linking to this tutorial that does exactly what I want....
bottom line read the(RTF)Comments.
Well at least learn something along the way. But what I really wanna say is fantastic job and thank you very much,
